Bio (logist)

Isabelle Busch is a wildlife conservationist who enjoys hiking, birding, skiing, sketching, horseback riding, and baking in her spare time. Her binoculars are never far from hand! She also dabbles in wildlife photography. While in college at Washington State University in Pullman, she wrangled wild salmon, tended beehives, spotted rare jungle dwelling birds, researched sharks, and earned the distinguished title of Outstanding Senior in Biology. After graduating with Honors this spring, Isabelle began pursuing her career in journalism. She plans to use her knowledge of ecology, evolution, research, and public conservation strategy to cover stories on wild species and spaces. In fact, she’s already well on her way: her article on native Palouse prairie was published in the Fall 2023 issue of Washington State Magazine. Along with her degree, she amassed an accidental mental library of Latin scientific species names. You can find her in the wilderness looking for migratory birds and animal tracks. Her favorite creatures are the common raven, pronghorn, and yellow-bellied marmot.
